OK, let's just say it: Google rules! It's the quickest and easiest way to get good search results. What you may not know is that you can get a lot more out of Google than a quick search. A very interesting project from Stanford University's new Literature Lab uses digital versions of books (as in Google Books) to analyze trends in literature and identify how works of literature have evolved. "It's like the invention of the telescope," Franco Moretti, a Stanford professor of English and comparative literature, says of Google Books. Learn hands-on how to write, edit, store documents, presentations and spreadsheets and then access them from any computer with Internet access with free web based Google Docs. Especially helpful if you don't have your own computer, your own office software or don't have a portable drive to which you can save your documents. Google Docs can also be used as a collaborative tool to create group documents in or out of a classroom setting. Google recently launched a new feature, Google Discover Music . Now, when you enter a music-related query — like the name of a song, artist or album — your search results will include links to an audio preview of those songs provided by our music search partners MySpace (which just acquired iLike ) or Lala . When you click the result you'll be able to listen to an audio preview of the song directly from one of those partners. For example, if I search for [21st century breakdown], the first results provide links to songs from Green Day's new album. MySpace and Lala also provide links to purchase the full song. Google Image Search has always been one of the best ways to search for images on the Internet. You can search the way you would for any Google search, but get results as thumbnails of the images, allowing you to sort through results quickly. If you go to Advanced Image Search , you have more search options, such a limiting to just color or black & white photos, getting results in specific file formats, or to content such as news or faces.
