The transition from high school to college is a lot bigger than many students realize. The Academic Success series on Films on Demand, helps students make the most of their college academic experience with short videos filled with facts, hints, insights, and observations from experts in the field of education and from students who know the ropes. Topics include values and goals; time management; critical thinking and problem-solving; active listening and note-taking; researching, reading, and writing; and studying and test-taking. You asked for it, you got it! Now you can ask for help with research and citations 24/7! So if it is 2 in the morning and you need a source, head to COM Library and get started with Ask a Librarian! You will get help from real live people, and it's available from every COM Library page! During library hours COM Library staff will still be answering chats, but when we close real academic librarians working at colleges from around the world will hop online to help you out. They can help with all the same things that our library staff do, like helping you find scholarly articles, primary sources and grabbing citations.  And....the little orange chat button is gone! We never use AI or robots to help our students, so now our chat button makes it clear: Ask a Librarian!  http://dlvr.it/TMlHfP

You can use the KIC scanner to scan chapters of a reserve textbook (no more than two per week because of copyright laws), or documents you need scanned.  Then email them to yourself and use the computer lab to read, print or forward them. There are times when a teacher purchases a textbook for their course and places it on reserve with the library.  Reserve textbooks are located behind the circulation desk and can be requested by a student using their COM ID.  Reserve textbooks can be checked out  for use in the library, but cannot be taken out of the library.  Check with us to see if we have your textbook on reserve before you buy it for your class.  Take a look at the reserves library guide to see what is on reserve.  For more information on other items that can be checked out from the library, check out the Library of Things. http://dlvr.it/TMdKpH

August is National American Artists month.  All month long, COM library is featuring artist biographies and beautifully illustrated art books on our pyramid display shelves.
